'I thoroughly enjoyed Magic-Eye. The idea of making ‘magic eye’ puzzles actually magical is brilliant, alongside the exploration of Quin’s catalepsy. I think you realise the clever other-world portal successfully, and your use of the mirror-world to explore Quin's relationship with his father is interesting. So the novel is full of hooks, but it’s also stylistically assured. I liked the abundance of lively similes, the touches of humour (never overdone), the kids' friendships and rivalries, and the way Quin’s intuition is tested by Peregrine’s chameleon qualities. It all strikes me as being original whilst keying into established fashions for both emotional realism and imaginative mysticism. A great read!'
